LED floodlights are the most popular outdoor lighting solutions used in a host of commercial areas. However, many times people get confused between the usage of high wattage and low wattage floodlights and tend to face difficulties in deciding which LED luminaire is better as per their needs and requirements.
.
A high wattage floodlight is a high-intensity light that has a broad beam. Low wattage floodlights are used in domestic spaces like gardens entrances etc or in advertising billboards have a comparatively narrow beam spread. For instance, most of the low wattage lights have lower power. It is more concentrated and is compatible with small outdoor spaces.
.
Here are some of the major differences between the two forms of floodlights:

High wattage LED floodlights provide highly diffused and scattered illumination. It projects light in all directions and floods all the space within range with uniform illumination. Whereas, low wattage LED floodlights furnishes a lower power output generally less than 50w. It cannot fill the whole commercial area with uniform illumination but can focus on defined objects.

Beam angle can be defined as the angle or degree of width with which the LED luminaire emits or distributes light. Simply put, it is the angle formed between the two opposing points of the beam axis. It is the paramount factor that differentiates high-wattage floodlights from low-wattage floodlights. As mentioned earlier, high-wattage floodlights offer a wider and more intense spread of light as compared to low-wattage floodlights. The high beam angle lights create a washing effect while low wattage floodlights have a beam angle ranging from 45 degrees to 120 degrees. However, low-wattage flood lights provide brighter illumination than high-wattage floodlights. The beam angle tends to remain inversely proportional to brightness. This means that the smaller the beam angle, the brighter the light appears.

High wattage floodlights are industrial lighting solutions that are highly appropriate for large outdoor commercial spaces like shipyards, stadiums, parking lots, driveways, etc. Many-a-times, they are used as indoor lighting solutions in huge spaces like warehouses and storage facilities. On the other hand, Low wattage floodlights are more flexible and thus, are appropriate for a variety of applications and spaces. They are suitable for small areas like domestic spaces, gardens, billboards, etc.
